Arena and battlegrounds

Ranked 1v1, 2v2 and 3v3 matches, rating and glory, the friendly duel and the three five-on-five battlegrounds that rotate every week.

How to enter the arena

The arena opens at level 10. In the Arena window, pick a mode and join the queue, from port or at sea. You keep playing as usual while you wait. When an opponent turns up, you have 20 s to accept, and you only see their name once the fight starts.

  • 1v1: Enseada do Duelo
  • 2v2: Anel dos Recifes
  • 3v3: Bacia da Tormenta

You get 10 s to prepare and up to 5 min to fight. Sink your opponent and you win on the spot. If time runs out, whoever dealt more damage wins, and if that's a tie, whoever has more life left. Giving up counts as a loss.

In the arena, everyone starts with a full hull and every wait reset. There's no repairing at sea, no Véu de bruma and no Cortina de fumaça, but repair kits and orders work, and any ammunition and items you use are gone for real. Nothing breaks and nothing is lost. When you leave, you go back to where you were, with the life you had and 10 s of mist.

Rating and seasons

Every captain starts the season with 1,500 rating points, and each ranked match moves that number up or down based on how strong the opponent is. Your name shows up on the table after 10 matches. The game looks for opponents with a similar level and rating, and if the wait drags on, it slowly widens the range.

A season runs for eight weeks, then there's a one-week break with friendly matches only. When the season turns over, rating and glory start from scratch. Turn down several matches in a row or walk out of fights and you'll wait a few minutes before you can queue again. The live tables are under Rankings.

Glory and rewards

Every ranked match gives glory, 5 for a win, 2 for a draw and 1 for a loss. Glory isn't spent. It unlocks the arena rewards, which you pay for in gold or diamonds, and glory from one mode only unlocks that mode's rewards.

There are 13 rewards, spread across parts, weapons and item crates. Finish the season in first place with at least 30 matches and you're the champion, and each mode's champion unlocks a hull of their own: Devastador, Cérbero and Kraken.

Fixed teams: 2v2 and 3v3

In 2v2 and 3v3 you play with a fixed team. You found it in port for 50,000 gold (2v2) or 100,000 (3v3), and each captain has one team per mode. The leader puts the whole team in the queue. If you leave, you wait 48 h before joining another team in that mode.

During the fight, allies show up on the minimap and opponents don't, and nobody can hit their own team. When time runs out, the game adds up each side's damage and life.

Friendly duel

From level 10, you can challenge another captain to a friendly duel from their card or from your friends list. Duels take place in the arena but count for nothing: no rating, glory, achievements or skulls. It's just for bragging rights. A challenge stays open for 30 s, and you can send up to 20 an hour.

Battlegrounds

Battlegrounds are 5 against 5 matches, from level 15. They open in week 2 of every event, stay open until it ends and close during the break between events. You queue on your own (groups can't go in together), and teams are balanced by level, ship strength and rank.

Each week of the event has one mode:

Week 2
Capture the Flag
Week 3
Tide Dominion
Week 4
Bastion Assault
Week 5
Capture the Flag
Week 6
Tide Dominion
Week 7
Bastion Assault

Inside, orders, items and repairing at sea all work. Only your teammates can't hit you, and being friends doesn't count. If you sink, you respawn in 10 s, and each death adds 10 s, up to 60. Battlegrounds give no skulls, and no gold or experience for kills.

The reward is the currency of whatever event is running (Rêmiges, Óbolos, Fagulhas, Pérolas rubras and Presas), 45 for a win, 25 for a draw and 15 for a loss, in up to 3 rewarded matches a day, across all modes. That currency counts toward the event ranking too.

Capture the Flag

At Enseada dos Estandartes, each team has a flag at home. To score, grab the enemy flag and bring it to your own circle while your flag is at home. The first team to 10 points wins, or whoever has more when the 20 min are up. On a tie, team damage decides it.

The flag drops where its carrier sank and goes home when someone from its own team sails over it. An invisible ship can't pick up the flag, and going invisible while carrying it makes you drop it.

Tide Dominion

At Banco das Três Marés there are three areas to hold. Stay inside one and it's captured in 10 s (faster with more ships), but an enemy inside pauses the capture. Each area your team holds is worth 1 point every 2 s, and sinking enemies scores nothing. The first to 500 points wins, or whoever has more after 10 min.

Bastion Assault

At Estreito das Sentinelas, each side has three towers and a base. As long as a side's three towers stand, its base takes no damage, and towers and base both fire back. Every 45 s, each side gets a wave of 3 assault ships. Destroy the enemy base to win or, if time runs out, deal the most damage to structures within 15 min.

In Dominion and Bastion there are boxes scattered around the map. One gives back 30% of your life, and the others hand out 4 boosts of 20 s each, which are more damage, more speed, less damage taken or faster reload.
